Abstract
In this article, the general and functional characteristics of synonyms in English and Uzbek, their use and meanings in the language, and their equivalents are studied. We also studied synonyms from many aspects, such as syntax, lexicology, semantics, and the novelty is that the types and different meanings of synonyms are studied in depth in modern linguistics.
