The research aimed to identify parallel thinking in mathematics among middle school students. The research population included the schools in which middle school students studied in Baghdad Al-Rusafa First Education Directorate for the academic year 2005/2006. Four schools were chosen by simple random method, consisting of (400) students, to represent the main research sample. The researcher prepared a parallel thinking scale consisting of (24) items consisting of three alternatives (always applies to me, sometimes applies to me, does not apply to me). After applying the test and analyzing the data statistically using the t-test for a single sample, the results showed a statistically significant difference in favor of the students in the research sample
